Do my screenshots ever leave my phone?
No. Sift makes zero network requests — text recognition, categorization and the search index all run and live on your iPhone. There's no server, no account, no analytics, no third-party SDKs. The entire privacy policy fits on one screen because there's nothing to disclose.
What happens after the 7-day trial?
Search, browsing, sorting and reminders stay free forever. The cleanup deck caps at 10 sweeps per day — enough to keep up, slow for a backlog. Sift Pro ($5.99, once) removes the cap and adds one-tap Add to Calendar.
Are deleted screenshots gone for good?
No — deletions are batched into a single system confirmation, and everything goes to your Photos "Recently Deleted" album, where iOS keeps it for 30 days. Anything you pin never even enters the cleanup deck.
Which iPhones does it run on?
Sift requires iOS 26. On iPhones with Apple Intelligence, categorization uses Apple's on-device language model; on the rest, a fast built-in engine takes over. Either way, nothing is sent anywhere.
Does it drain my battery scanning everything?
The first scan runs while you watch, then new screenshots are indexed in the background — by default overnight, while your iPhone is charging. You can turn background indexing off in Settings.
Camera photos of paper documents?
Yes — optionally. Sift can also index photos of paper receipts, documents and posters from your camera, so the parking receipt you photographed gets the same treatment as a screenshot. Off or on, one toggle in Settings.
