Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 10, 2026

In short: Yalla doesn't require an account and works fully offline. Your progress is stored only on your own device — we don't send it anywhere, because we don't have a server.

1. What this policy covers

This privacy policy explains what information is processed, and how, when you use the "Yalla" mobile app (iOS and Android). By using the app, you accept this policy.

2. What data do we collect?

Short answer: almost nothing. Yalla has no server of its own and does not collect user data. The progress data you generate inside the app (words you've learned, your streak, your review schedule, your goal, and your reminder time) is stored only in your device's local storage and is never transmitted to us.

The app does not require sign-up or an account; we do not ask for your name, email, or phone number.

3. What's stored on your device?

This information lives only on your device. Deleting the app deletes this data too; there is no cross-device sync.

4. Notifications

If you grant permission, we show at most one local reminder notification per day, scheduled entirely on your device. These notifications are not sent from any server or "pushed" from elsewhere — they are scheduled directly by the device itself. You can turn them off anytime from your device settings.

5. Purchases

In-app purchases (the one-time unlock) are handled entirely through Apple's App Store or Google Play's official payment infrastructure. Your card details never reach us — they are processed securely by Apple/Google alone. We only store, on your device, whether the purchase was completed (as verified by the store).

6. Third-party SDKs

The app currently includes no advertising or analytics/tracking SDKs. Firebase Remote Config may be used in the future for remote configuration — this service only reads configuration values that control app behavior (e.g. whether a feature is on/off); we do not send your personal data to it.

7. Children's privacy

Yalla is not marketed to children and does not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. Since the app doesn't collect personal data from any user regardless of age, this doesn't introduce additional risk.

8. Deleting your data

Since all your progress data lives only on your device, removing the app from your device deletes it completely. There's no need to send us a separate deletion request, because we don't hold any data to delete.

9. Changes

This policy may be updated as the app gains new features (for example, if an optional backup account is added in the future). Material changes will be posted on this page and the "last updated" date will change.
